People of Walmart: Internet Gem?

Or the Internet’s polished turd?

Every once in awhile you stumble upon a website so fantastic it takes its place in your Internet browser’s bookmarks. A friend recommended my current Internet favorite to me. People of Walmart which creators say is, “a collection of all the creatures that grace us with their presence at Walmart, America’s favorite store.” The website features pictures of the sights inside and outside of Walmart stores throughout the world. “People of Walmart was founded in August of 2009 by three friends and roommates after an inspirational trip to Walmart,” say the site’s creators. A quick visit to People of Walmart’s homepage will show you a great display of mullets, tight Nascar t-shirts, and a collage of bumper stickers completely covering the rear end of 1997 Ford F150 hand painted in trailer park tan. People of Walmart is powered by advertising and features information on a “charity of the month.” Encouraging you to submit your “Wal-Creature” the highest rated picture of the month scores you a $100 Walmart gift card. So if you’re feeling a little down about yourself, bored at work or school, or just want some Internet humor, check out People of Walmart. Who knows, if your Sunday best is a denim jacket, denim shirt, and jeans, and you frequently patron the Subway in your local Walmart, you might just be on People of Walmart.

The public bus and subway systems are littered with amazing photo opportunities. Many of us have been sitting alone witnessing something amazing and only wishing we could share the experience with our friends. Well now you can!
  • I'll take a look at it and put something together by the end of today!
