How to stay safe when doing repairs

To all three of my viewers, I am sorry to have missed a week of posting.

Today shall take a more serious note: How to prevent injuries while doing home repairs or building things.

Basically if you are halfway conscious and not drunk, you will probably be okay. If you don’t know what you are doing, call in someone who does. By that I don’t mean your brother or uncle who has replaced an electrical outlet once while standing in a tub of water. Use the right tool for the job. Don’t be like me the other day and use a screwdriver that is way too small, only to have it slip and puncture your finger. Not fun.  I’ve had my fair share of tool related injuries and they can all be summed up in the fact that I was in a hurry. Take your time, focus on the work at hand.

I will also note that when you take your time, you won’t end up having to fix the same thing twice. This has happened to me because I was in a hurry and had to get the job done. Just do it right the first time.

I hope these tips help you to not cut your hand off next time you fire up the table saw.
