So, as most of you may know, last night (Sunday January 26th) was the Grammys! There were lots of unexpected winnings (maybe expected to you, but certainly not to me) and lots of disappointments. Most disappointments were the outfits, but this is a music blog and I will NOT get into that hot mess. Here is the low down of what I feel about what occurred that night.

First, can we just talk about Lorde for a minute! She was up against some of the greats and swept! She took song of the year and best pop solo performance. She beat out Daft Punk, Sara Bareilles, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar, and Taylor Swift just to name a few! I was so happy for her. She is only 17, winning Grammys and taking names!

Next, Beyonce, what was that? She definitely wasn’t trying to impress anyone with her vocals last night. Sure, I like a good Beyonce song just as good as the next, but if they can’t perform the song live it makes me lose a lot of respect for them. She dropped her self titled album without any kind of marketing or clues early this year. YOU NEED TIME TO PREPARE FOR THE GREATNESS OF BEYONCE ALBUMS (usually), but this one was different. It was good, but nothing great. I know there is someone out there reading this and saying, “WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! EVERYTHING ABOUT BEYONCE IS GREAT,” and what I’m going to say in response to that is where were you in the 90’s and 2000’s?

I also can’t go through this whole blog without duly noting Macklemore’s wonderful performance of Same Love! Not only did he win four grammys and crush his performance, but he allowed Queen Latifa to marry 33 couples during the performance! This guy just keeps getting better and better. I’m not a huge rap fan, but Macklemore raps about all of the right things, all of the issues that matter. Not getting money and honeys (for lack of a better word…) .

Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar, I DON’T KNOW WHAT JUST HAPPENED, but I kinda liked it?! It was a very interesting mash up that was definitely an awesome part of the night!
